I want to apologize, I haven't posted any updates in a while but I've had a tremendous amount of classwork leading up to final exams (which are in only a couple weeks!). Hopefully I can find the time to make some posts occasionally during that time, but they probably won't be as constant as they normally are.  For now, here's a doodle that I did in Econ class today while I was listening to the lecture.

I love finding little out of the way shops like this one.  Stopped in and picked up a couple $2 books and had a great conversation with an old woman about oriental rugs and ham, of all things.  Anyway, right as I was leaving I thought I should take a photograph of the place.  As you can see, it doesn't do too much to reveal itself other than the little sign and cart of books out front.

Sorry for the break in updates, schoolwork and an illness combined to destroy all of my free time.  I'm back now, here's just a photo from a week or two ago.  I've been having a good time with my new camera, I'll post later on to show you the products of all of my messing around.

New Camera!

My new camera arrived today!  It's a Canon EOS Rebel T2i.  It came with only an EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Lens, but as soon as I gather the funds I'll be buying a 50mm f/1.8 that I've seen around for a good price.

Unfortunately I couldn't compose this shot the way I wanted to without having the window there, but I suppose it works well either way.

Crim Dell

Yes, another photo of the bridge.  It's just such a nice place.  Unfortunately I keep missing the right time of day where the light is great here because I'm so busy with other activities, but for now, I'm satisfied with this.

Culture Collection

Passed by this display of amazing old carved ivory and other objects, thought I'd share it.  The lighting in the display case was very dramatic, looking back on it, everything was moodily lit by small spotlights (you can see where in the pic, like the top of the tower).  

The new camera is officially on its way!  It was shipped this morning.

A quick update, and a photo that's a bit out of place among the others here.

Sorry for another sort of throwaway post, I ended up having much more to do today than I thought!  Tomorrow should be better, hopefully.  For now I give you this, a quick shot of some of the delicious looking confections on sale at The Peabody, a grand hotel in Memphis.

Colored Panes

Just a quick post, more of those colored panes from before.  I have a mountain of reading and work to get through right now, but I'm hoping to spend a hour or so tomorrow with my camera just exploring the campus looking for good places to photograph, so there are better updates to come.  I'm also looking at possibly purchasing a new camera sometime in the next couple weeks, so that is going to be an exciting time as I get used to a new (but better!) camera and it's way of doing things.

Night Lights pt. 2

Was looking back through the photos I took on my first night on campus, and this one caught my eye.  I just like the contrast between light and dark here.

More windows...maybe I have a problem?

Yeah, another post of a window.  Sorry about that.  I visited Rhodes College, where my brother is going to school, and literally every window on the campus has this mix of stained/colored and regular glass.  It seems a bit ridiculous looking at first, but it really lends a nice character to the school and makes for interesting lighting in the room as the colors are cast across the rooms.  Not the most artsy shot, but I felt that I should update, so here you go.

The brick pathways around the residence halls at the college become peaceful and quiet after dark, an almost surreal contrast to the daytime scenes of students gathering to talk, yelling, or running from place to place.

Hello again.

My apologies for the lull in updates and activity, I've been wrapping up end of the school year business and time got away from me. I'll be more active in the coming weeks, thanks for the patience. For now, another (and probably the last for a while) generic landscape shot.

Yeah, I know, another boring shot of a pathway/landscape. I'm amazingly busy considering how close it is to the end of the school year, so hopefully I'll be able to make up for it in a few days.

A bit of news

I know I've posted this photo before, but it's been published in conjunction with a small article online on Treehugger (a Discovery company). I don't get anything out of it, but it's just cool to know.
